After teaching patchwork and quilting from my lounge room since 1996, I decided it was time to move onward. In 2002 we purchased an old Church Hall with the view to relocate it to a corner of our dairy farm at Cooriemungle in south west Victoria, Australia. The Church was built in 1892 and was originally located at Laanecoorie. In 1926, the Presbyterian Church was moved by traction engine 11 km north to the township of Tarnagulla  a small gold mining town 50 km west of Bendigo.

We tried for 2 years to get the building relocated but when the costs started to blow out we made the decision to demolish it. Plans were drafted for a new building and we were able to incorporate the recycled timber from the old Church. The 9 gothic windows, double ledge door, american red baltic floorboards, baltic lining & dado boards were all used. The weatherboards were sold, as we had decided to clad it in colourbond. The end result is a unique eye catching building which confuses a lot of people!

The shop finally opened on 15th March 2007, over 5 years after purchasing the original building. The retail shop area is downstairs, and upstairs is a large spacious classroom, with a separate room set up for stretching quilts etc. We have plans to extend the building in Summer of 2011 / 2012 and relocate the classroom downstairs. I have also been working on establishing a large garden and this is very much a work in progress, and will be for many years to come!
